Karen Owens

Karen was born in Vancouver, BC and moved to Toronto as a child with her family, settling in Scarborough. Her career was mapped out from an early age as she always knew she wanted to be a teacher working with children with developmental disabilities. After obtaining her teaching credentials from the University of Toronto and the Institute of Child Study, Karen worked for 33 years at her dream job as a T.D.S.B. teacher, spending all her years working in Special Education. She truly feels that she had the best job in the world!

After Karen retired, Jill approached her with an idea for a sister business to her successful real estate company, and that is how Karen’s second career with Jill’s Team was born! Karen is spearheading our “Downsizing A to Z” service, which is designed to assist seniors in navigating the process for them to age safely in place or help them with downsizing to a more appropriate living space.

Karen’s career background helping people through education was the perfect prerequisite for her role managing Jill’s Team downsizing business.

Did You Know?

Karen is married to her high school sweetheart, Mark. They have two sons, Jacob and Griffin. They have made their home in West Rouge since 1988 and love this beautiful and unique area of Scarborough. Karen enjoys spending her free time with friends and family and loves entertaining, cooking and baking. She remains connected to the special education community through volunteer work and occasional supply teaching.
